As we know, Kansas City (KC) is famous of barbecue. People lived in Kansas City like grilling so much. For grilling, barbecue sauce is necessary. The original KC BBQ sauce were mostly hot, vinegary, and not sweet. However, since the 1970s, KC barbecue sauce is probably sweet and tomato based. Actually, when talking about KC style, many people may like it to be thick, others may like it to be smoky, and also many think it to be tangy.

It is easy to find the KC BBQ sauce that are made with high amount of high-fructose com syrup on grocery store shelves. This kind of BBQ sauce are not welcomed by housewives. And this recipe is to share how to make KC BBQ sauce with molasses.

This is an easy recipe as it takes only about 5 minutes to prepare. And it is homemade. All you have to do is add all of the ingredients into a sauce pan. And stir them evenly. Once they form into paste, bring it to a simmer over medium high heat. It takes about 20 minutes over medium-low heat to make it becomes thick.

KC BBQ Sauce

This sauce may taste a bit vinegary at first, but that will be less obvious when you use it on meat. And if you don’t need to use this sauce immediately, just seal in a container and refrigerate.
