BBQ Recipe: Grilled Korean Style Beef Short Ribs

The short ribs recipe for beef can be made in various styles. However, the one that we are going to discuss here is inspired from the Korean Cuisine. This recipe is going to let you enjoy the essence of Korean cuisine in general and the delicious ribs would have the particular taste of their own. Let’s get started with the recipe then? Ready?

Following are the main ingredients of the beef short ribs in Korean style. The quantity of ingredients mentioned below can serve four people. 
1 Pear (peeled and sliced)
1/3 cup soy sauce
¼ cup vinegar (rice vinegar specifically)
2 tablespoon brown sugar
3 cloves garlic (peeled)
1 normal sized Ginger (peeled and sliced)
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon hot chili sauce 
1 green onion (chopped)
1 teaspoon sesame oil

4 pound beef short ribs (trimmed)

1.This recipe is going to take a bit longer because of the use of beef in it. beef takes more time to cook so be ready to start preparing for this dish a way ahead of when you want to serve it. 
2.Take a blender and mix the slices of the pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, hoisin sauce, ginger, sesame oil and hot chili paste. 
Note: make sure that all these ingredients turn into the form of a paste.it will take around 4 minutes of blending. You can add a bit of water, if necessary. However, make sure that this mixture does not get too watery. 
3.Put the ribs in a baking dish. Put all this mixture on the ribs for marinating. Wrap these ribs with a plastic sheet and put it in refrigerator for the purpose of marinating.
Note: 8-12 hours would be needed for the marinating mixture to seep through the beef in a proper way. 
4.Just before grilling, blot-dry these ribs so that the extra mixture would be removed from the ribs.
5.Preheat the grill. Make sure to keep the heat to medium-high. And then put a non stick grill mat on the grate to prevent from sticking and keep short ribs from falling through the grate.

6.Then transfer the ribs to the non stick grill mat and let them cook. You’ll see a pinkish color in the center go the ribs to know that they are done. For that, you’ll have to wait for 8 minutes in total, 4 minutes on each of the sides. 

Note: if you have the thermometer, make sure that the temperature of the center of the ribs reaches 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) before you can consider them cooked. 

7.When cooked properly, put them to plate and top the beef ribs with the chopped green onion. 


The grilled ribs recipe with Korean cuisine can be served with different sauces, staring from simple ketchup to mayonnaise sauce. 
Additionally, other grilled recipes such as grilled corns and mixed vegetables can also be used for serving. 
Combined with the Korean touch, your beef ribs would be a good option to have if you are looking to diversify the taste of the grilling.
