Cakes are nice dessert for treating guests and children. Baking cakes are common cooking way, while I want to introduce how to grill cake. Most cake can be grilled for fun.
2.5 ml salt
5 ml baking powder
15 ml butter
80 ml milk
110 ml canola oil
120 ml granulated sugar
7.5 ml vanilla
475 ml sliced fresh peaches
30ml packed dark brown sugar
240 ml all-purpose flour
1.Normally, I'd like to use charcoal grill. Firstly, add charcoals and kindle the fire. Arrange the charcoals in a circle around sides of the grill to make a mixture of indirect and direct heat, which can leave an open space in the center to grill the cake. Preheat the grill to about 350 °F by inserting a oven thermometer.
2.Grease an 8-inch cake pan and add sliced peaches to the bottom of a cake pan. Use a spatula to spread them out in an even layer.
3.Add sugar, vanilla, oil, milk and egg to a bowl. Mix them together into a smooth with electronic mixer. Add flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Add the flour and salt mixture into the mixture little by little and use electronic mixer to stir into batter until all the flour and salt are added, make sure the batter is an even consistency throughout. Use a spatula to pour the batter into the cake pan with peaches and to smooth out the top of the batter.
3. Put a pan that the size is the same with cake pan full of cold water underneath the grill grate for gas grill. Push hot coals around the pan for charcoal grill. Place a grill mat on the grate to prevent falling parts from sticking the grate and transfer the cake pan on the grill mat. Bake for about 40 minutes.
4. keep an eye on monitoring the heat with an oven thermometer. If the temperature drops, move more charcoals around or turn up the heat on a gas grill.
5. Remove the cake from the grill after 40 minutes baking. To check whether the cake is cooked well, you can insert a toothpick to the cake, if it comes out clean, it means the cake is cooked well. If not, grill it for more minutes and check again.
6. Chill it for about 40 minutes and use a knife along the edges of the cake to remove it from the pan.
